Designer of the month in March: Dóra Abodi

Starting from 2009 WAMP introduces a designer every month who we consider unique or outstanding at the design market. The aim is also to introduce the person behind the design objects. Designer Dora Abodi primarily fashions pret-a-porter clothes; and she has been WAMP member since a year.

Dora Abodi is experimental and chic at the same time. Handcrafted details, new lines, fresh contemporary thinking, uncommon us of materials, luxury; these are the keywords of the brand. She fashions luxury pret-a-porter clothes. “I use many different kinds of materials; I do not bind myself for a given matter.”

She was born in Kolozsvár in an artist family, but they migrated into Győr when she went into elementary school.  She has graduated at the French MODART International Art and Fashion Academy Budapest. Her influences are mixed; she is inspired by the French subtle and fine approach to fashion and extra feminine, elegant details, by Italian sense to lax and gripping attitude of luxury and beautiful leather works; by Hungarian craftsmanship, and by emotional Romanian attitude.

Her quotation
„I am inspired by interested narration and figures, interested stories and adventures, science-fiction, nature, movies and stars, and the always changing world around us.”

Quotation about her
“Dora advises her clothes for those who like the sophisticated details and spectacular cuttings but they do not aspire for costume like dresses.”
“She would like to exhort women to be ourselves, and to dare wearing exciting accessories whereby these are able to change our whole appearance.” CotCot

2010: Winning 1st place on Design am Rhein Fashion designer competition (Germany)
2009: Glamour magazine Woman of the year nomination

“One of the best feedbacks is the purchase, or rather if stylists, shops and magazines desire my clothes and accessories.”

She works as full time designer, but randomly she designs fashion illustrations and other illustrations, offers image consultancy, works as stylist, or develops creative conceptions.
She made a funny fashion cartoon from her first official collection, in which she was telling her actual collection’s story.
